The 388th Fighter Wing at Hill Air Force Base, Utah is home to the Viper West Coast Demonstration Team, one of two single ship F-16 aerial demonstration teams in Air Combat Command. The F-16 Fighting Falcon, more commonly known to military pilots as the Viper, is a compact, extremely maneuverable multi-role fighter aircraft. It provides a relatively low-cost, high-performance weapon system for the air forces of the United States and other allied nations.
Heritage Flight http://www.acc.af.mil/aerialevents/heritageflight/index.asp

Click to Enlarge The U.S. Air Force Heritage Flight program was established in 1997 to commemorate the Air Force's 50th anniversary. It involves today's state-of-the-art fighters flying in close formation with World War II, Korean and Vietnam era fighters. The flight's mission is to safely and proudly display the evolution of U.S. Air Force airpower and to support the Air Force's recruiting and retention efforts.
There are 21 pilots in this program. The modern Air Force fighters are piloted by the seven Air Combat Command (ACC) single-ship demonstration team pilots and the vintage warbirds are piloted by 12 civilians, including former Air Force, Army, Navy, and Marine pilots, and several former astronauts. In addition, two active duty F-4 pilots and an F-22A pilot joined the program in 2005.
Bill Reesman - "Red Bull Mig Magic" http://www.redbullmig.com/

Click to Enlarge Seasoned Combat Pilot "Air shows aren’t really about flying. They’re about evoking emotion," says Bill Reesman. He should know: Reesman has more experience dazzling crowds with the amazing MiG-17F aircraft than any other American pilot. And if creating emotion is the key to a successful show, Reesman has no peer.
He performs the world’s only nighttime jet-fighter pyrotechnic act – called “Red Bull Meteor.” With over 1,000 feet of fire coming off each wing, his jet looks like a shooting star and astonishes spectators up to thirty miles away! But the emotion Reesman evokes can be up close and personal, too. He and his wife Julie donate their time and resources to conduct Make-A-Wish flights, giving children with life-threatening conditions a thrill to remember.

Jon Melby - Flying a Pitts www.jonmelby.com

Click to Enlarge Jon started flying at eight years old when he jumped off the roof of his two-story home into a pile of leaves. He dreamed of flying and went out and did it! When Jon was 12, he started competing as a freestyle skier, again flying without wings. After moving to Arizona, and just prior to his 16th birthday, he received his solo in a glider. After completing high school, Jon joined the Air Force and flew as an MC-130 Special Operations Loadmaster. At age 19, he bought an airplane and hired an instructor to teach him to fly it, receiving his pilot’s license in only three weeks! After years of owning several aircraft and flying upright, Jon decided to try flying upside down. In 1996, he partnered in a Pitts S2B Bi-Plane and started aerobatic training/competitio

Rob Harrison www.harrisonAirshows.com

Click to Enlarge The Tumbling Bear has been a marquee air show attraction since 1993 when he made the decision to embark on a new career after 28 years with the United States Forest Service, where he was responsible for the technical aspects of firefighting airplanes and helicopters. The rarely-seen tumbles and gyrations of his bright yellow Zlin 50LX are now his trademark in the sky. The maneuvers are best described as gyroscopic, created by the gyroscopic effect of the engine and propeller. An abrupt maneuver in one direction causes a force in a different direction. The plane isn’t actually flying; the combination of aerodynamic and gyroscopic forces is what causes the plane to turn and tumble as it does. None are more enthralled with his airborne acrobatics than the kids; in turn, their reactions seem to give Harrison the most enjoyment.
